ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Four members of the UCF women's soccer team wrapped up post-season accolades Tuesday with appointments to the NSCAA Scholar All-South Region teams. Goalkeeper Lianne Maldonado, defender Bianca Joswiak and forward Tishia Jewell were named to the second team while midfielder Andrea Rodrigues was selected as a third team honoree.
Maldonado, an international communications major, is the co-vice president of the UCF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee executive board. She is also one of two Knights to represent all of UCF on the Conference USA SAAC.
Joswiak, a marketing major, is a C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient and three-time member of the honor roll. She holds the school record for career starts and games played.
Jewell is pursuing two master's degrees and has maintained a GPA of 3.75 since her graduate work began. She became the first Knight and just the second C-USA student-athlete to be awarded the prestigious Senior CLASS Award following her stellar soccer career.
Rodrigues, an advertising and public relations major, just received her bachelor's degree last week. She is one of four seniors who were named to the C-USA All-Academic teams in October and has been a member of the honor roll for four years.
The team was honored in November with the NSCAA Team Academic Award in recognition of earning a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2011-12 academic school year. The 2012 Conference USA Tournament champions combined for a GPA of 3.12.
