A.J. Nelson Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior midfielder A.J. Nelson of the UCF men's soccer team was recognized for his work in the classroom Thursday when he was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second-consecutive year. Nelson was one of 12 league student-athletes selected to the all-academic team.

A finance major, Nelson has a 3.63 grade-point average. He was one of five repeat selections on the all-academic squad.

The midfielder started 17 of 18 games this year for the Knights. He concluded the season with three assists, good for third on the team. Nelson ranked fourth on the squad with 1,372 minutes and recorded 18 total shots.

A native of Ponte Vedra Beach, Nelson helped UCF enjoy a successful 2012 campaign. The Knights finished third in the C-USA standings with a 5-3 mark and posted memorable victories over No. 17 SMU, Kentucky and Marshall.
