ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team is in fourth place, but well within striking distance of the leaders at the Stetson CFSC Invitational in Victoria Hills Golf Club in Deland, Fla.
The Knights put together rounds of 297 and 289 Monday for a total of 586. UCF is just seven strokes back of USC-Upstate, which leads the tournament with a 579 total. Florida Gulf Coast is in second with a 580 total, while Bethune-Cookman is third with a 583.
Ricardo Gouveia led the way for UCF and is tied for third after two rounds. Gouveia recorded scores of 72 and 71 for a 1-under total of 143 after the first day of competition. Greg Eason is tied for third after carding two rounds of 73 for a total of 146 (+2). Jose Joia shot a 77 in the first round, but rebounded with a 71 in the second to sit in a tie for 14th at 148 (+4). Kyle Wilshire shot 75-74-149 (+5) and McCabe Buege rounded out the Knights' scores with a 78-76-154 (+10).
Tuesday's third and final round is slated to begin at 7:15 a.m.
