ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team has earned the No. 3 seed at the Conference USA Championship and will open the event Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala., against host and No. 6 seed UAB. The contest will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
UCF earned a spot in the tournament thanks to a thrilling 1-0 win at Marshall Saturday. UCF took the victory in improbable fashion when Eduardo Jimenez scored off an Omar Vallejo corner kick with only three seconds remaining.
The win at Marshall was one of two impressive road victories for UCF last week. On Wednesday, the team posted a 1-0 win at Kentucky.
The Knights (8-6-3) went 5-3 in league play.
The winner of the UCF-UAB matchup will play No. 2 seed Tulsa in the semifinals Friday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. The title game is Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern.
