TAMPA, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team closed out its fall season Saturday in Tampa at the Florida State Championships. The event was being hosted by the University of South Florida.
UCF had two doubles tandems in action Saturday in the quarterfinals. Genevieve Lorbergs and Josephine Haraldson battled Miami's Lina Lileikite and Kelsey Laurente, but could not advance in an 8-5 loss. Jenna Doerfler and Clare Mendell also represented the Knights in the quarters only to fall to USF's Loreto Alonso Martinez and Katie Vasenina.
The round of 16 got underway in singles play, however Courtney Griffith, Doerfler, Lorbergs and Haraldson were unable to reach the quarterfinals.
The Knights will now turn their attention to the spring season when they host the UCF Invitational Jan.19-21.
