Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has proclaimed Friday and Saturday "Black and Gold Days" in honor of the UCF football team playing for the Conference USA Championship Saturday. Mayor Dyer has also agreed to a friendly competition with Tulsa mayor Dewey Bartlett with regard to Saturday's game.
In competitive style, the City of Orlando will exchange a key lime pie for a pecan pie from the City of Tulsa. Orlando Mayor Dyer and Tulsa Mayor Bartlett have also agreed to a friendly competition, where the Mayor of the city who does not win will wear the other team's jersey at an upcoming City Council meeting.
In addition, in support of UCF before the championship game, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has officially proclaimed Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, as Black and Gold Days in the City of Orlando. Mayor Dyer is encouraging all Central Florida residents to wear black and gold this Friday and Saturday and show their spirit for the UCF Knights football team.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Noon, the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights will battle the University of Tulsa (TU) in the Conference USA Championship game at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, since 2005 and the first C-USA Championship Game, no other conference has had two teams play each other more in its respective title game than the matchup between UCF and Tulsa; and
WHEREAS, the 2012 UCF Football team has tied for the fourth-most victories in a single-season, with the record standing at 11 set by the 2010 squad; and
WHEREAS, for the fourth time in eight years, the 2012 UCF Football team are the C-USA East Division Champions; and
WHEREAS, UCF alumni and all college football fans throughout the Central Florida community are encouraged to don the school colors of our hometown university, black and gold, in an effort to support UCF;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BUDDY DYER, Mayor of the City of Orlando, hereby do Proclaim Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, 2012, as
Black and Gold Days
in the city of Orlando.
