LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team opened play at a unique event close to home Friday as the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney got underway. Florida State is hosting the event, which includes some of the top teams in the country.
Two Knights were in action Friday. In singles action, Jorge Blasco fell 6-1, 6-1 to Yannick Hanfmann of top-ranked Southern Cal. Facing the USTA's Chase Perez-Blanco, Matthew Gladstone fell 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action, Blasco and Gladstone faced Andres Bucaro and Michael Rinaldi of Florida State. The Seminoles posted an 8-1 win.
Play at the tournament will resume Saturday morning.
UCF is competing in its final event of the fall.
