ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team is ready to get another year underway when the Knights host Lynn on Friday at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena. The Knights' only preseason matchup of the year is free for the public to attend.
The two programs met in last year's exhibition when UCF pulled away with a 65-55 win. Seniors Gevenia Carter and Kayli Keough will lead the Knights this year as they look to make a successful run through their final chapter in Conference USA.
Although UCF returns two of its top three scorers and four starters from a season ago, the team welcomed four newcomers and a new assistant coaching staff.
Courtney Locke returned to the Knights after spending a year at UC-Santa Barbara while Khalilah Mitchell and Brett Fink will begin their first collegiate coaching positions. They will be on the sideline along with Joi Williams, who starts her sixth year as UCF's head coach.
UCF will play 14 games at UCF Arena this year, including the season opener Nov. 9 versus Georgia State. Following the women's exhibition, the men's team will hold an open practice in the arena free for the public to attend.
Single-season and single-game tickets are now available for purchase at UCFAthletics.com or by calling (407) UCF-1000. A general-admission season ticket is $30, and season-ticket packages, which include a complementary gift and T-shirt, begin at $49.
