ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Keith Embray has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services. The former professional football player comes to the Knights after spending the past two years in the Office of Student Welfare & Development at the University of Notre Dame.

"We're very excited to have Keith Embray join our team," UCF Vice President and Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury said. "Keith has a real breadth of experience as a former student-athlete, retired NFL player and leader in both the private sector and higher education. Through that experience, Keith will bring credibility and expertise to his role of leading the program charged with developing our student-athletes into leaders who are ready to compete at the highest level of their chosen fields."

Embray said he is looking forward to his new role at UCF.

"More than anything, I'm very excited about this opportunity," Embray said. "It's the epitome of bittersweet, though. When you're in the business of working with young people, you don't just walk away and forget. But UCF is a place with quality people and an Athletic Director who sees the word student in front of the word athlete. The people at UCF understand we're preparing students for when society no longer sees them as an athlete. UCF is an excellent place and I'm looking forward to being there."

In his role at Notre Dame, Embray was responsible for the administration and implementation of programs and services to educate and prepare student-athletes for success on and off the field. He worked with all 26 varsity sports and served as the sport administrator for the women's rowing program.

Prior to his time at Notre Dame, Embray served as an adjuct professor and program coordinator working with students in the McNair Scholars Program at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was at Westminster from 2005-2010.

Embray graduated from the University of Utah in 1992 with a degree in history. While at Utah, he was an All-Western Athletic Conference performer, served as team captain and was named defensive MVP following his senior season. He spent two years as a teaching assistant at Utah, before beginning his professional football career. Embray played for the Hamilton TigerCats from 1994-96. He played for the Portland Forest Dragons of the Arena Football League in 1999, before spending 1999-2002 with the National Football League's Tennessee Titans.

Embray also has experience working for the University of Utah as an Upward Bound tutor and for Vanderbilt University as a Life Skills Advisor. In addition, he has also worked as a consultant for Yamagata and Associates in Salt Lake City. Embray also worked for Clear Channel Broadcasting and Citadel Communications in Salt Lake City as radio on-air talent from 2003-08.

Embray will begin his duties at UCF on Monday (Nov. 5).
