WINTER PARK, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A doubles title for Juan Bolona and Amar Hromic capped a successful weekend at the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational Sunday for three members of the UCF men's tennis team. Bolona, a senior, joined freshman Hromic to take the Flight A Doubles championship.
In Sunday's final match, the pair defeated Lynn's Vlad Cirla and Pavel Mohja, 8-6. The UCF duo went 3-0 in Winter Park.
Hromic nearly picked up a singles title, but fell 6-2, 6-2 to Willie Wolfer of Lynn in the Flight A title match. The freshman recorded a 3-1 mark during the weekend.
Matthew Gladstone also competed for the Knights and went 2-1 in singles competition at the event which was hosted by Rollins.
UCF's next fall event is set for Oct. 19 when play begins at the ITA Regionals in Tallahassee.
