WINDERMERE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational came to a close Tuesday afternoon with the UCF men's golf team finished tied for 11th overall. In one of the most prestigious collegiate tournaments across the nation, the Knights carded a three-day score of 904 (+40).
UCF was once again led by junior Greg Eason who capped his stellar performance with a 1-over 73 on the final day to finish in a tie for sixth overall. Fresh off his individual title at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational two weeks ago, Eason has now finished 11th or higher in all four tournaments this fall.
"It's nice I'll tell you to see some hard work paying off," Eason said after his final round. "It would've been nice to make a couple of shots less, but hopefully I'll get it better for the next event."
Finishing behind Eason during the three-day invite were juniors Ricardo Gouveia (+12), Jose Joia (+13) and Kyle Wilshire (+13).
Top-ranked Cal capped its unbeaten fall season by finishing its wire-to-wire lead by holding off New Mexico by two shots at 4-over. Michael Kim paced the Golden Bears with a final-round 1-over to win medalist honors for the first time in his career and finish 4-under.
Trailing the Golden Bears by just two shots was No. 5 New Mexico after carding a 2-under (286) on the day. No. 6 Alabama finished five shots off the lead after shooting a team-best 3-under (285). Defending ICI champion Texas (+15) and No. 2 Illinois (+18) rounded out the top five.
The Knights will look to finish their fall campaign on a high note when they travel 40 miles north of campus to DeLand for the Stetson/CFSC Invitational on Nov. 5-6.
