Isleworth Round 2 Pairings

WINDERMERE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF golf team sits in a tie for sixth place after the first day of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The Knights carded a score of 296 to go +8 for the day. They are tied with Alabama in sixth place at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club.

Jose Joia paced UCF in the first round. He shot an even-par 72 to sit in a tie for eighth. Ricardo Gouveia was right behind at +1 and tied for 16th, with Greg Eason coming in at +2 and tied for 22nd. Kyle Wilshire rounded out the scoring for the Knights at +5. Reid Martin turned in a score of +10 Sunday.

California was the only team to shoot under par on the first day. The Golden Bears carded a -4 score in the opening round of the tournament, hosted by UCF and Texas Tech.

Cal was led by Michael Kim and Michael Weaver, who shot -5 and -4, respectively on Sunday. The duo led their team to a four-stroke advantage over defending Isleworth champion Texas, which put together a round of even par

Kim's -5 score of 67 for California was the top score of the day. He was followed closely by defending individual medalist Jordan Spieth of Texas and his Golden Bear teammate Weaver. Spieth and Weaver both carded scores of 68 to go -4. Texas' Cody Gribble and Arkansas' Taylor Moore were both -3 to round out the top five individuals.

Monday's second round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. The Isleworth Collegiate Invitational concludes on Tuesday.
