ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Coming off of a big Conference USA victory over No. 17 SMU, the UCF men's soccer team will face another challenge Sunday when it plays at No. 30 Tulsa. The game at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium will begin at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.
This past Sunday, Steven Lamberta scored in the 68th minute to give the host Knights (5-4-3, 2-1-0) the win over SMU, snapping the Mustangs' nine-match unbeaten streak. The shutout was the second-straight for the Knights, who have limited their last five opponents to only two goals.
Following the win over SMU, the Knights moved to No. 5 in the NSCAA South Region rankings.
Tulsa is 9-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in league play. On Tuesday, the Golden Hurricane posted a 2-1 win at UAB. Tulsa is 6-1 at home this season. The Golden Hurricane own a pair of victories over ranked teams, having defeated No. 3 New Mexico and No. 11 Creighton.
A year ago, UCF posted a 2-1 win over visiting Tulsa. The victory was the first in nine tries for the Knights against the Golden Hurricane.
After facing the Golden Hurricane, UCF will return to Orlando where the squad will host Memphis on Wednesday and UAB next Saturday for its home regular-season finale.
