COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 16 UCF women's soccer team (10-4-1, 4-3-0) couldn't maintain its early lead and dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker in double overtime to Colorado College on Friday night.
Jennifer Martin scored her first goal since the Knights' 4-0 win at Florida Gulf Coast on Aug. 19. Freshman Sophie Howard assisted to Martin, who netted the score from 12 yards out to the far post in the 17th minute.
Senior Nicolette Radovcic nearly added another goal when she hit the crossbar in the 26th minute, and in the 33rd minute goalkeeper Madison Whitehead saved a one-on-one opportunity with forward Tishia Jewell.
Colorado College's Hannah Peterson found Kaeli Vandersluis for the equalizer in the 65th minute and eventually sent the game to overtime.
UCF had a few opportunities in extra minutes to put the game away. A shot was cleared off the goal line on a corner in the first overtime. The Knights drew a corner in the 107th minute and Madison Barney just missed a header off the play.
Less than a minute later, Kecia Morway connected with Brittney Lyman for her third goal of the season and the gamewinner, 2-1.
Up next, UCF heads to UTEP Sunday at 1 p.m.
