ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Having won two-straight matches, UCF will return to action Sunday when it faces host South Carolina. The Conference USA contest from Columbia, S.C., will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Stone Stadium.
UCF (4-3-2, 1-0-0) opened C-USA play Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over visiting FIU. Deshorn Brown put the Knights on the board with a penalty-kick goal in the 64th minute. The goal was the eighth of the year for Brown and his sixth in UCF's last six matches.
The win over the Panthers served as the second-consecutive shutout win for the Knights. Last Saturday, the team rolled to a 4-0 victory at North Florida.
South Carolina is 3-5-2 overall and 0-2-1 in league play. The Gamecocks have faced a tough schedule as four of their opponents have been ranked.
After facing the Gamecocks, the Knights will return to Orlando where they will host local foe Stetson for a non-league match at the UCF Soccer Complex Wednesday. The match with the Hatters will serve as UCF's final non-league contest of 2012.
UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham is no stranger to South Carolina having served the Gamecocks' assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for three years, concluding his stint in the Palmetto State in 2005.
Last year, UCF and South Carolina met in Orlando and the Gamecocks escaped with a 1-0 double-overtime win.
