ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Having posted a big win over the weekend in its last non-league road match of the year, the UCF men's soccer team is ready to open Conference USA play Wednesday against visiting FIU. The contest at the UCF Soccer Complex will begin at 7 p.m.
The Knights rolled to a 4-0 victory at North Florida Saturday. Four different UCF (3-3-2) players scored against the Ospreys as the team recorded its first shutout of the season. Deshorn Brown started the scoring for the Knights with a goal in the seventh minute. Brown, who has seven goals and two assists on the year, is tied for first in C-USA with 2.00 points per game. The junior forward has scored a goal in five-straight games.
UCF will be playing just its fourth regular-season home match of the year. The contest against FIU will serve as the first of four home C-USA contests for the Knights. UCF is in its final campaign in C-USA as the program will move to the BIG EAST in 2013.
FIU (6-1-2) opened league play Saturday with a 1-1 draw at South Carolina. The Panthers lone loss this season came to No. 21 Furman, a 2-1 defeat on a neutral field.
After facing FIU, the Knights will return to the road Sunday to play at South Carolina.
Season tickets, which include a savings off of the single-game ticket price, are only $15 and include a commemorative UCF soccer scarf.
