ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Brand-new UCF women's golf coach Emily Marron is beyond excited for Sunday to arrive. The Knights begin the 2012-13 campaign Sunday at the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston.

"I can't wait," Marron said Wednesday afternoon. "I'm counting down the days. As a new coach, you don't know what you have until you see it. They look good on paper. But it's exciting. We're looking forward to it."

UCF's lineup will include senior Carolin Pinegger, sophomores Monifa Sealy, Robyn Doig and Jessica Schall, along with junior Kaitlyn Price. That group will play three rounds at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C. Sunday through Tuesday.

Marron is excited to see how her team reacts in competition.

"We've never seen them play before," Marron said. "We've seen past results. I'm very impressed with Carolin as our number-one player. She was two-over through five rounds of qualifying ... very consistent. But it's nice that we have depth. We have a roster where the depth is there. That's the great thing is that we're struggling with who can play (No.) five, because we have such a good team.

"We were really impressed through qualifying," Marron continued. "Monifa shot 69 the last round. We're seeing some low numbers. I've been at this tournament the last seven years in a row and the scores are always low. We've been working hard on our short game, our scoring shots."

Marron's familiarity with the Cougar Classic means she knows the level of the competition the Knights will be facing. Ten of the top 15 teams from last year's NCAA Championships are in the field of 24 schools, including each of the top five.

"Opening at the Cougar Classic is great, it's probably the best field we're going to see all year," Marron said. "The defending national champion Alabama is going to be there. The field is incredible."

The Cougar Classic is the first of four fall tournaments for the UCF women.
