ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team will hit the court for the first time in 2012 when it travels to Tampa for the USF Invitational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The tournament, which also features Creighton, Wisconsin and host South Florida, begins at 5 p.m. Friday evening as the Knights take on the Bluejays.

UCF will return to the court Saturday morning at 11 a.m. against the Badgers and will conclude the tournament on Sunday morning against the in-state rival Bulls also at 11 a.m.

The tournament gives the Knights an opportunity to play one of their fiercest rivals while potentially creating new ones. UCF has never played Creighton in school history and has only matched up with Wisconsin one time, 15 years ago. On the flip side, the Knights will play USF for the 69th time in program-history, the second-most of any opposing school.

Returning to the court for the Knights is a talented roster that in 2011 helped the squad to its best record (20-11) since 2003, and most league wins (12) since joining Conference USA in 2005. Highlighting the Knights' roster is redshirt junior outside hitter Angelica Crump, who averaged 4.34 kills per set and a .263 hitting percentage last season. Crump's 2011 kills per set average ranked in the top-25 nationally and helped earn her Honorable Mention All-American accolades.

Also returning to the fold for the Knights are senior middle blocker Tory McCutcheon, who boasted a .329 percentage last season, fellow senior libero Meredith Murphy, who finished 2012 averaging 4.48 digs per set and sophomore DeLaina Sarden, who averaged a 2.90 hitting percentage and 2.30 digs per set, and is the reigning C-USA Freshman of the year.

The Knights' home opener takes place Aug. 31 as the team hosts Columbia in the Holiday Inn Select/UCF Classic.
