ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team will continue preparing for the 2012 campaign when it hosts Mercer Friday for an exhibition contest. Admission is free for the game, which will start at 1 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The exhibition is the second of three scrimmages in six days for the Knights, who have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship in each of the last two years. Head coach Bryan Cunningham's squad is currently receiving top-25 votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Poll after going 12-6-3 a year ago.

On Tuesday, the Knights opened the exhibition portion of their schedule at College of Charleston. The teams played a 90-minute contest, and then an additional 30-minute period. UCF dominated the 30-minute period and registered the lone goal of the extra session when Gabriel Zapponi scored off a feed from Matthew Gaskins. The Cougars had a pair of goals in the 90-minute contest.

Twenty-four Knights saw action against the College of Charleston, including 10 who were making their UCF debuts.

After facing Mercer, the Knights will host Florida Tech for an exhibition Sunday at 2 p.m. UCF will open the regular season at Florida Atlantic on Aug. 24. The squad will make its home debut on Sept. 1 versus Old Dominion.

Season tickets, which include a savings off of the single-game ticket price, are $30 and include a commemorative UCF soccer scarf. Season tickets are currently available by visiting UCFAthletics.com or by calling (407) UCF-1000.
