ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's soccer team has been itching for the 2012 season to start ever since the Knights capped last year with an Elite Eight berth. This weekend, UCF will come one step closer to beginning an exciting new year when the Knights host Florida in their only exhibition game of the season.

Saturday's match pitting the No. 12 Knights against the No. 21 Gators is set for 7 p.m. and spectators will enjoy free admittance.

"We're excited to have Florida come down here," UCF head coach Amanda Cromwell said. "They always travel well, so it should be a good crowd. We hope our fans come out and get excited about buying the season ticket and having the soccer scarf. It's going to be a fun environment and should set the tone for both teams."

The last time these two programs met, UCF ousted Florida from the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville with a 3-2 win to earn a Sweet 16 berth. The Knights return nine starters and four of their top five goal scorers from 2011 while the Gators return three of their top four goal scorers and point leaders from last year's campaign.

"Having attacking players return from the year before is important because of the continuity and the fluidity of attacking play," Cromwell said. "Sometimes it's hard when there are a lot of new players to add to the mix. Having those players return means we should score more goals earlier."

Season tickets, which begin at $30 and include a complimentary soccer scarf, are available by calling UCF-1000 or visiting UCFAthletics.com. Fans will be able to fill out flyers to purchase season tickets at the gate Saturday.
