ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the UCF Knights officially reported to campus Tuesday, UCFAthletics.com caught up with junior Jeff Godfrey for a quick Q&A session. The junior will be entering his first season as a wide receiver after serving the 2010 and 2011 campaigns as the Knights' starting quarterback.

How has the transition to wide receiver been so far during the summer?
"The transition has been great. I've been learning a lot from the other wide receivers and (assistant) coach (Sean) Beckton. I know all of the plays. Just going out there in another position - it feels great to help this team and play a big part. Running routes, getting up field, making some moves on the defense - it feels pretty good and I love the position."

What was one of the first things the coaches told you about learning the wide receiver position at this level?
"Coach told me to learn all of the positions on the field, and not just the X and Y. Playing quarterback, I knew where everyone was going on every play, and basically I knew every position."

After missing the spring, can you describe your feelings when you rejoined the team in the summer, and how grateful were you to the coaching staff for giving you this opportunity?
"I was very grateful to the coaching staff for letting me back. I was glad to be back with my teammates. It was a big mistake to leave and it was a bonehead decision on my end, but when I came back I felt welcomed and it felt like a family again."

When you think of the UCF offense this year, how would you describe it?
"Explosive. We have a lot of weapons. Blake (Bortles) is doing a tremendous job at quarterback. We have tremendous receivers, running backs and offensive line. So when you think of the UCF offense you think explosive."

Godfrey and the Knights get the 2012 preseason underway Wednesday with practice set to take place from 3:15-5:30 p.m.
