ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Along with earning an all-time high 79 rating in the NCAA Graduation Success Rate earlier this year, the UCF football program picked up another prestigious academic honor Monday. The Knights received the Conference USA Sport Academic Award, as they boasted the highest team grade-point average of all 12 C-USA football programs.
When the NCAA released the latest Academic Progress Rate in June, UCF football was again near the top of the charts. Under head coach George O'Leary, the Black and Gold posted a multi-year average of 974, which was 26 points higher than the national average. UCF was tied for the 18th-best multiyear APR average in the country among Football Bowl Subdivision programs. The Knights also ranked eighth among public FBS institutions, exempting the service academies.
A total of 10 returning football student-athletes have already earned their degrees, and 20 student-athletes from last year's team have either graduated or are expected to graduate this summer.
Thirty-seven members of the team garnered spots on the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll with at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA last season. That number was two higher than in spring 2011.
UCF football season tickets are currently available for as low as $140, while single-game tickets and flex plans are also on sale.
