ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Practicing with your teammates, but not being able to go to battle alongside them on the court, can be a daunting task. UCF men's basketball guard C.J. Reed knows what that feeling is like. After transferring from Bethune-Cookman, Reed had to sit out the 2011-12 season.
The redshirt senior is excited to get back on the court and play in games. "I have been anxious for this moment for a while. Time flew by. It seems like just yesterday I was making my decision to come here. So I am definitely excited about getting on the court," he said.
In his redshirt season, the guard worked on his ball handling and shooting, in addition to learning about leadership. He is now trying to make the most out of his final year of eligibility.
"I worked hard in the classroom and on the court. I went the extra mile and did the little things to be successful," he said.
Reed won a conference championship and player of the year honors during the 2010-11 season while playing in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference at Bethune-Cookman. The guard led the conference in points per game with 18.8. He feels that experience is something he can bring to the Knights.
"While at Bethune we won a championship. I can bring the championship experience and that poise at the point guard position of being able to play in tough situations. I can add that to an already talented team," he said.
