ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Chelsey Lauzon, who concluded her career with the UCF rowing team in the spring, has been honored with a Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year award for the second-consecutive year. The awards are presented to the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport based on academic achievement (GPA), athletic success and service.

A four-year member of the Knights' varsity-eight boat, Lauzon will graduate in December with a degree in elementary education and a minor in coaching. She maintains a 3.94 cumulative GPA.

As a senior in 2011-12, Lauzon earned All-America Second Team recognition from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. She became just the second rower in program history to garner All-America honors. The Rockford, Mich., native also picked up her fourth-straight CRCA All-South Region First Team distinction and was recognized by the organization as a National Scholar Athlete.

"This is a wonderful honor for Chelsey," UCF head coach Becky Cramer said. "It is always great when student-athletes are recognized for not only their athletic success, but also their success in the classroom."

At the C-USA Championships in the spring, Lauzon was named to the all-conference team for the third-consecutive season. She also was a repeat selection to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
