Former Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour Professional Ashley Prange has been hired to help lead the women's golf team at UCF. Prange joins a program led by head coach Emily Marron, who took over the Knights' program in late June.
Prange spent seven years as a professional golfer. During that time, she competed in the 2007 and 2011 U.S. Women's Open Championship. She won two events on the LPGA Futures Tour and had 25 career top-10 finishes. Prange was also the winner of The Big Break V - Hawaii, which was aired on The Golf Channel.
In addition to her playing career, Prange also has experience coaching collegiate golf. She served as an assistant coach at Stetson University from 2009-11. With the Hatters, she worked with two Atlantic Sun Championship teams and coached a three-time all-conference honoree.
More recently, Prange has served as the head women's golf coach at Jacksonville University. In just one year with the Dolphins' program, Prange saw her team's national ranking improve by 30 spots. She also coached a player to Jacksonville's first individual title in more than five years. One of her student-athletes at JU finished last season as an All-Atlantic Sun and a Freshman All-Atlantic Sun honoree.
Ashley was the first person I had in mind to be our assistant at UCF, Marron said. She had a tremendous playing career that speaks for itself and she will be able to share that experience with our team. Her energy and enthusiasm for golf is apparent and she comes to UCF with a passion to make the program nationally competitive. I couldn't be happier to welcome Ashley to our UCF family.
Prange said her familiarity with Marron and her knowledge of UCF's golf program attracted her to the position.
I've known Coach Marron for a long time and I'm very excited to work with her, Prange said. I'm looking forward to helping Emily turn UCF into a national powerhouse. With the resources UCF possesses, I think we're right on the brink.
Prange is a graduate of the University of North Carolina. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication. As a member of the Tar Heels' women's golf team, Prange was a two-time All-America performer and a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection. She was a three-time selection as her team's Most Valuable Player, picked up three individual victories and 15 Top-10 finishes during her collegiate career.
