ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's basketball star Jermaine Taylor will open play with the Chicago Bulls in the Las Vegas Summer League Tuesday. Taylor, who has spent two years in the NBA, is one of 12 members of the Bulls' squad.
Chicago will play five games in Las Vegas, starting with Tuesday's 10 p.m. Eastern contest against the Boston Celtics.
Taylor has appeared in 65 career NBA games and played in 32 total contests in 2010-11. He played in 26 games with the Sacramento Kings that season, averaging 7.1 points in 15.6 minutes an outing. This past season, Taylor played in 14 games with Rio Grande Valley in the NBA D-League. He averaged 14.2 points in 26.3 minutes per contest.
UCF's all-time leading scorer at the Division I level, Taylor garnered All-America honors as a senior in 2008-09 when he averaged 26.2 points, good for third in the nation. He was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Year and set league single-season records by scoring 466 points and averaging 29.1 points against conference foes.
