ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Former UCF men's basketball point guard A.J. Rompza has been recognized for his work in the classroom with a spot on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court. In May, Rompza earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in criminal justice and focus areas in behavioral/social science and commerce.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled academically during the 2011-12 season. Juniors and seniors who concluded the 2011-12 academic year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher were eligible for the honors court.

As a senior, Rompza appeared in 21 games, making 20 starts. The Chicago native averaged 7.1 points, 4.4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. In Conference USA contests, he led the league in steals (2.5) and assist-turnover ratio (3.1).

Rompza concluded his career second in UCF history with 211 career steals. He also recorded 487 assists, good for third on the all-time program register.

In March, Rompza was one of five league student-athletes selected to the C-USA Men's Basketball All-Academic Team.
