EUGENE, Ore. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sophomore Aurieyall Scott wrapped up her time at the USA Olympic Trials in style on Saturday night by resetting the 200-meter school record in front of a national television audience.

In the Trials' last event of the day, Scott ran a personal-best 22.68 (+1.0) to top the school record she set in Thursday's preliminary round. She finished in eighth place in what NBC commentators anticipated as arguably the best finals of this year's Olympic Trials.

Scott measured up against seven women who all rank among the world's wind-legal top 10 this year, including the current fastest woman on the planet, Allyson Felix. Felix ran a meet-record time of 21.69 for first place and will be joined in London by Carmelita Jeter and Sanya Richards-Ross, who finished second and third, respectively.

Scott was one of two collegiate athletes to compete in the finals, joining NCAA champion Kimberlyn Duncan in the stacked field of eight.

In her sophomore year, Scott has emerged as a three-time All-Conference selection, a two-time All-American and the only UCF track athlete to ever reach the finals of an Olympic Trials event. As the C-USA Championships' High Point Scorer of the Meet, Scott was instrumental in helping UCF claim its third-straight conference outdoor championship this year.

"I was very proud of Aurieyall. It was nice to see her PR in the rain out of lane two. Lane two is a very difficult lane to run in, especially in a final of that caliber - one of the fastest finals of all time," UCF head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert said. "She ran her race pattern well and it was great that she was able to think mentally under that kind of pressure. It shows you what kind of competitor she is.

"As for the meet as a whole, it was a good experience for everybody. I think the light came on for everybody because they realize in order to get to the highest level, it takes patience and a lot of hard work. I'm excited already for next season and for the U.S. meet (NACAC U-23 Championships) in Mexico we have coming up."
