ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF sophomore Ricardo Gouveia was recognized for his impressive 2011-12 campaign by earning All-America honorable mention recognition from Golfweek. Gouveia, the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, helped lead the Knights to a spot in the NCAA Championship.
In his first year in Orlando, Gouveia participated in all 12 events this past season. He posted a team-low 71.5 stroke average and had 20 rounds of par or better. Gouveia recorded five-top 10 performances.
At the NCAA Championship in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Gouveia tied for 37th. He helped the Knights advance to the championship with a strong showing at the NCAA Regionals. He tied for 18th at the tournament in Stanford, Calif.
In addition to receiving the C-USA Newcomer of the Year award, Gouveia was selected to the PING All-Southeast Region Team and the All-C-USA First Team.
