DES MOINES, Iowa (UCFAthletics.com) - Sophomore Aurieyall Scott and freshman Octavious Freeman represented the No. 13 UCF track and field team Friday at the NCAA Championships, competing in the finals of the 100 meters at Drake Stadium. Freeman placed fifth, with Scott placing eighth.

The pair earned All-America First Team honors by advancing to the finals. Freeman, the lone freshman to advance to the finals, clocked in at 11.41, and Scott finished with a time of 11.59. The athletes ran into a headwind of -1.7.

Oregon's English Gardner finished first with a time of 11.10, followed by Kimberlyn Duncan (11.16) and Semoy Hackett (11.33) of LSU.

The All-America honor is the eighth career award for Scott, while Freeman picked up her third distinction of the year.

Freeman and senior Jackie Coward will be in action Saturday as the nationals come to a close. Freeman will compete in the finals of the 200 meters at 12:47 p.m. ET and Coward will be in action in the finals of the 100 hurdles at 1:14 p.m. ET. The event will be streamed live online on ESPN3.com. In addition, ESPNU will televise action from noon until 2 p.m. ET.
