ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday that UCF football's clash with Ohio State in Columbus Saturday, Sept. 8, will kickoff at noon ET. ESPN2 will televise the first meeting on the gridiron between the Knights and the Buckeyes.
UCF opens the season at Akron Thursday, Aug. 30, before traveling back to Ohio to face OSU Sept. 8. It will be the Knights' first game against a Big Ten opponent since traveling to Penn State in 2004.
Ohio State has claimed seven national championships in its history, and finished 2011 with top-25 wins vs. Wisconsin and Illinois en route to a berth in the Gator Bowl. The Buckeyes will be under first-year head coach Urban Meyer, who began his head coaching career in Ohio at Bowling Green from 2001-02 before taking over the head jobs at Utah and then Florida.
Tickets for the contest in Columbus are available for 2012 UCF football season ticket holders and Golden Knights Club donors. To place an order today, call the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at (407) 823-1000, or visit UCFAthletics.com for more details.
Additional game times and television information will be released when they become available.
Following trips to Akron and Ohio State, UCF opens its home schedule Saturday, Sept. 15, against FIU. It then welcomes Missouri to Bright House Networks Stadium Saturday, Sept. 29, as the tilt with the Tigers will mark the first time the Knights will host a school from the SEC. When the non-conference schedule concludes, UCF embarks on its final season in Conference USA before heading to the BIG EAST when it entertains East Carolina Thursday, Oct. 4.
