ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 20 UCF men's golf team experienced much success during the 2011-12 season, its third under head coach Bryce Wallor. The campaign started with back-to-back wins and concluded with an appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Knights finished the year ranked 20th in the Golfstat NCAA Head-to-Head Rankings and 22nd in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

Team Highlights

? The squad made its first NCAA Championship appearance since 2009 and fifth in school history. The Knights were one of 30 teams to advance to the tournament. The event was held at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
? As one of the top 25 teams all season, the Knights earned an at-large invitation to the NCAA Regional in Stanford, Calif. At the NCAA Regional the Knights finished in the top five and advanced to the NCAA Championship.
? After winning its first two tournaments of the season, the Northern Intercollegiate and the Adams Cup of Newport, the Knights were ranked sixth in the nation. At the Northern Intercollegiate, the squad posted an 870 (+18) and won the tournament by 10 strokes. Less than two weeks later, the team won by nine strokes when it posted an 842 (-9) at the Adams Cup of Newport.
? The Knights took home their third regular season title with a first-place finish at the USF Invitational thanks to top-five finishes by senior Brad Schneider and sophomore Jose Joia. The squad posted an 854 (-10) and won the tournament by six strokes.

Individual Highlights

Brad Schneider
? Named to the C-USA All-Conference First Team.
? Selected to the PING All-Southeast Region Team.
? Earned co-medalist honors at the Northern Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill.
? The top finisher for the squad in four events, which is more than any other Knight.
? Received Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors three times.
? Led the team in top five finishes, with four.
? Received the David Toms Award, voted on by the Golf Coaches Association of America and given to a men's collegiate golfer that has overcome adversity to achieve excellence.
? Played in all 12 of the team's tournaments.

Reid Martin
? Participated in two tournaments; once as an individual.
? Finished in the top 30 in both appearances.

Greg Eason
? Named to the C-USA All-Second Team.
? Earned medalist honors at the C-USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark.
? The Knights top finisher at the NCAA Championship in Pacific Palisades, Calif., finishing tied for 13th.
? Played in 11 tournaments.

Ricardo Gouveia
? Named to the C-USA All-First Team.
? Selected to the PING All-Southeast Region Team.
? Named C-USA Newcomer of the Year.
? Participated in all 12 of the team's tournaments.
? Earned medalist honors at the Adams Cup of Newport in Middletown, R.I.
? Led the Knights in stroke average (71.5), lowest 54 holes (204, Adams Cup of Newport), par or better rounds (20) and top 20 finishes (5).
? Participated in all 12 of the team's tournaments.
? Received C-USA Golfer of the Week twice.

Jose Joia
? Selected to the C-USA All-Second Team.
? Named to the PING All-Southeast Region Team.
? Posted the lowest round of any Knight this season with a 65 (-7) in the first round of the USF Invitational in Dade City, Fla.
? Led the Knights in top 10 finishes with six, including a tie for eighth at the NCAA Regional.
? Played in 12 tournaments.

Hojin Kang
? Participated in two tournaments.
? Recorded a 69 (-3) in the final round of the Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.

Kyle Wilshire
? The Knights top finisher at the Prestige at PGA West (T21).
? Posted a 72 (E) in each round of the C-USA Championship and finished in ninth.
? Finished in the top 25 in three tournaments.
? Played in 11 tournaments; once as an individual.

McCabe Buege
? Made collegiate debut at the Northern Intercollegiate.
? Participated in two tournaments; once as an individual.
