ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When he looks back at his freshman year, Rod Days views the 2011-12 campaign as a learning experience. The 6-foot-6 Days appeared in 23 contests and made seven starts early in the season.
As the year progressed, minutes became tougher to come by for Days. He averaged 1.3 points and 1.3 rebounds in almost nine minutes a contest for the year as he adapted to the speed of the college game.
"Everything happened so quickly," Days said. "Now I know what to expect and what to look for."
By knowing to what to look for, Days has a plan for the offseason. This summer, he will work on his handle and shooting. He will also be spending ample time in the weight room with strength and conditioning coach Ben O'Donnell. Days is hoping to add about 10 pounds to his frame, getting him to around 220 pounds.
With the added muscle, and knowledge, expect Days to make more contributions to the Knights as a sophomore.
"I feel way more experienced now. I know the ropes and the offense. I know how the college game is played," he said.
