STATE COLLEGE, Penn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The duo of Monifa Sealy and Carolin Pinegger paced the UCF women's golf team on the second day of the NCAA East Regional on the Blue Course at Penn State. Both shot 3-over 75's as the No. 38 Knights finished the round tied for 16th overall.
No. 25 South Carolina continues to lead the field at +6 (582) and No. 2 Alabama (+13), No. 15 Florida (+15), No. 12 Texas A&M (+16) and No. 8 Duke (+19) round out the top five teams.
Following an even-par 72 on Thursday, Sealy started the chilly morning on the first hole of the 6,253 par-72 course. She carded a birdie on the par-5 ninth and sits in a tie for 13th overall with a two-round total of 147 (+3).
Pinegger repeated her performance on the course from Thursday with her second-straight three-over 75. The junior from Marquartstein, Germany, closed out the day by shooting par on the back nine.
Freshman Katie Mitchell and sophomore Kaitlyn Price each carded a birdie and sit at No. 71 and 92, respectively after round two. Mitchell will head into the final round at 10-over while Price is currently 13-over.
The third and final round begins at noon for the Knights when junior Valentina Fontaine (+16) tees off on the 10th hole.
After the three-day tournament concludes, the top eight teams from each region will advance to the NCAA Championships May 22-25 in Nashville, Tenn. This is UCF's first appearance in the postseason since 2009.
