ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Completing a nine-match homestand, which began Feb. 22, the UCF women's tennis team took down Stetson, 5-2, Wednesday at the UCF Tennis Complex for its third-straight victory. It was just the Hatters' fourth loss of the season as they fell to 11-4 while the Knights improved to 7-9.

"We had a lot of home matches, and we were able to build some momentum," head coach Stephanie Nickitas said. "Coming off these three wins, we're playing with confidence now and that's always an important thing."

The Black and Gold opened with a 1-0 lead thanks to sweeping the doubles point. Moving their record to a team-best 12-9 on the season, Taylor Dubins and Andrea Yacaman defeated Diana Bukajeva and Jen Miller, 8-6, at No. 3. Over at No. 2, Jenna Doerfler and Alexis Rodriguez cruised by Sara Lazarevic and Lindsey Cable, 8-3, and Genevieve Lorbergs and Courtney Griffith stayed perfect at the No. 1 spot by getting by MayaBlue Stauffer-Macdowell and Shannon Gunning, 8-4. Lorbergs and Griffith jumped to 4-0 on the year as a doubles tandem.

Solidifying the team victory, the Knights collected four singles wins against the Hatters. Dubins used a 6-1, 6-4 performance against Bukajeva to grab her seventh triumph at the No. 4 position. Lorbergs and Doerfler notched identical 6-4, 6-3 victories at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, and Rodriguez picked up her first win at the No. 1 singles position with a 7-6, 6-4 showing vs. Lazarevic.

UCF will now hit the road for the first time since Feb. 18 when it takes on No. 67 North Texas Saturday at 11 a.m. and Conference USA foe SMU April 8 at 12 p.m.

"It's going to feel good to be on the road in a different environment," Nickitas said. "Anytime you play a conference school it's always a big match, but we just want to go out there and compete hard on the road this weekend."
