ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the UCF women's tennis regular season draws to a close, the Knights look to capture their third-straight win against in-state opponent Stetson Wednesday at the UCF Tennis Complex. The match begins at 4 p.m.
The Knights (6-9) are coming off a 5-1 victory over West Virginia, their second win in a row. UCF swept WVU in doubles competition along with taking four out of the five singles victories on the day. Senior Alexis Rodriguez highlighted the afternoon for the Black and Gold, posting two shout out sets over West Virginia's Emily Mathis, 6-0, 6-0.
Stetson (11-3) currently trails North Florida for the lead in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Hatters are led by sophomores Diana Bukajeva and Lindsey Cable, who have a combined 23-4 singles record in 2012. The Stetson team as a whole has an impressive singles mark, totaling 58 wins while falling just 26 times on the year.
The match against Stetson marks the closing of UCF's nine-match homestand, which began back on Feb. 22 against the University of South Florida. After Wednesday, only three matches remain for the Knights in the regular season.
On Saturday, the Knights visit Dallas, Texas, to face North Texas and SMU Sunday before returning home to close out the season against Florida Atlantic April 14.
