BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team completed its regular season in a rain-shortened weekend at the Dale England Cup Friday afternoon. Due to inclement weather Saturday morning, action was called from Riddle Point Park on Lake Lemon.
The Knights raced host Indiana, Duke and Rhode Island in an abbreviated format Friday that saw each race go off in 15-minute intervals.
In the overall team standings, Duke, Indiana and Rhode Island all tied at 31 while UCF put up 24 points. The Knights' Varsity 4 shined once again on the water. The crew of Lea Kram, Anita Schmidt, Angelie Denizard, Shelby Flynn and Kali Mills topped all teams with a 7:56.5 finish.
The second Varsity 4 also scored a win in a head-to-head battle with Indiana, motoring past the Hoosiers in a seven-second triumph.
In the three other races at the regatta, UCF finished third in the Novice 8 and the Second Varsity 8 while the Varsity 8 took fourth in a time of 7:15.3.
The Knights will have an extended period of time off as they prepare for the Conference USA Championship on May 12 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
