ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The seventh-ranked UCF baseball team will don camouflage uniforms and honor those who have served our country during Friday's Military Appreciation Night game when they take on Memphis at the UCF baseball complex.
Active duty, retired and civilian military personnel, as well as their dependents, will receive free admission to the 6:30 p.m. game by showing their military ID, and they also will receive one complimentary ticket to the game.
The Knights (34-8) lead Conference USA with a 12-3 record, and the team's No. 7 ranking in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll is tied for the highest ranking in school history. The three-game series will continue at 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
U.S Army Sgt. Noe Santos, who was wounded in Iraq in 2005, will throw out the first pitch on Friday. UCF Athletics also will recognize women's soccer assistant coach Josh Walters, who spent one year in Afghanistan as a first lieutenant in the Florida National Guard. He set up and directed a soccer clinic and a series of soccer games for Afghan youths, and he received the Bronze Star for Valor and Service and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
