ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - While aiding the No. 7 UCF baseball team to a 4-0 week, including a sweep at Tulane, senior second baseman Travis Shreve was tabbed Conference USA Hitter of the Week by the league Tuesday. This is the first-career honor for Shreve in his second season on campus.
The Auburn, Wash., native led the Knights (34-8, 12-3) at the dish all week from the No. 9 hole. Shreve's .563 batting average (9-for-16) and three stolen bases last week each led the team. He notched three multiple-hit games and now owns a team-high .360 batting average.
Shreve also came through with timely hits to drive runs in as he plated three teammates on the week and slugged .625. His defense also stood out as he played error-free ball while record 14 putouts and 13 assists from the middle-infield position.
Next up for the Knights will be their weekend series with Memphis beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. The contest with the Tigers will serve as Military Appreciation Night.
Active duty, retired and civilian military personnel will receive free admission to the 6:30 p.m. game by showing their military ID, and they also will receive one complimentary ticket to the game. Tickets can be picked up on game day starting at 5 p.m. at the UCF baseball complex. Free parking will be available in the baseball lot and in lots E6, E7 and E8 next to Bright House Networks Stadium.
