ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Seniors Natalie Land and Vanessa Perez each had a pair of hits and knocked in a run as the UCF softball team defeated Bethune-Cookman 5-1 on Wednesday at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Knights (32-12) jumped on the Wildcats (21-23) early as Land led off the game with a single and moved into scoring position after her conference-leading 32nd stolen base of the season. Land scored the game's first run on a sacrifice fly by freshman Farrah Sullivan.
The Black and Gold broke the game open in the third as they plated four runs on RBI singles by Land, Perez, junior Alena Murgatroyd and freshman Hayley Barrow.
Senior Ali Schmidt earned her 10th victory of the season after allowing just four hits and one run in a complete-game performance. Schmidt struck out four and lowered her ERA to 1.46 on the year.
