ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Fresh off its weekend-series triumph over Southern Miss, the No. 10 UCF baseball team returns to action against in-state rival Florida Atlantic Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the UCF baseball complex.
Fans in attendance will not only be able to enjoy some top-10 baseball, but can feed their hunger all game long with one dollar hot dogs.
This will be the series finale between the two squads this year as the Knights (30-8) topped the Owls (24-13), 11-3, in Boca Raton three weeks ago. Since then, both teams have been on the rise as they each lead their respective leagues.
"FAU is a great team and a great program," head coach Terry Rooney said earlier Monday. "There is a mutual respect between these two teams. They are having a great year and are in first place in the Sun Belt. We have to play well tomorrow night."
UCF will trot out freshman Eric Skoglund (4-1, 2.01 ERA) for his sixth start of the season. The rookie lefty managed to keep No. 11 Miami at bay for two innings in his last start to earn the win in Coral Gables. He has made 12 appearances this season and shown Rooney his versatility both starting and out of the bullpen.
The Knights have won their last five midweek games in large part to a steady diet of clutch hitting and stellar pitching. On the year, UCF continues to sit atop Conference USA with a 2.83 ERA while leading the league in hits, runs scored, RBI, walks and steals.
