ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team is set to travel to Tampa Saturday to face No. 56 Middle Tennessee State in its final regular season event. The match against the Blue Raiders is set for 11 a.m. and will be played at the USF Varsity Courts.
The Knights (9-11) enter play this weekend following a road trip to Oklahoma last weekend, where the team went 1-1, claiming a victory over Oral Roberts before falling to Tulsa. Juniors Mario Samson and Jorge Blasco along with sophomore Erik Brunskog, are all in pursuit of their 10th singles victories of the season this weekend.
Middle Tennessee State (15-6) will face South Florida Friday before facing the Knights Saturday. The Blue Raiders enter play this weekend riding a seven-game winning streak that began March 31 in a 4-0 victory over Austin Peay. The Blue Raiders were last defeated on March 24 by No. 33 Memphis in a 6-1 road loss.
Playing at the No. 1 position for the Blue Raiders is sophomore Ben Davis, who holds a 13-4 dual record. Davis hasn't been defeated by an opponent since March 6, when he fell 6-3, 6-4 to Yannick Junger of UTSA. In doubles action, Davis and partner Christoph Lang have won six straight, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot.
