ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When the UKNIGHT Tour kicks off in late April, sports fans in the UCF and East Orlando communities can stay close to home to meet the university's new director of athletics and talk with head coaches.
RSVP Today to the 2012 UKNIGHT Tour
For the first time, the annual tour will feature a stop on campus. That event - the first of eight on the tour -- will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, April 23, in the J. Rolfe Davis Recruiting Lounge at Bright House Networks Stadium.
New Vice President and Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury will be joined by Head Football Coach George O'Leary, Head Men's Basketball Coach Donnie Jones, Head Women's Basketball Coach Joi Williams and Head Baseball Coach Terry Rooney.
Staff and faculty members, students and East Orlando residents are encouraged to attend the free event.
The UKNIGHT tour also features free events in Seminole County, Melbourne, downtown Orlando, Tampa, The Villages, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
"Many of our biggest fans study, teach and work right here at UCF," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Todd Stansbury. "We wanted to make it convenient for them to be the first ones to hear about our outlook for 2012-13 and how we're getting ready for our move to the BIG EAST Conference. I also look forward to meeting our dedicated Knights fans throughout the state."
All UKNIGHT Tour events will be from 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature autographs, giveaways and prize drawings. The programs begin with a meet-and-greet highlighted by free hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Marc Daniels, the voice of the Knights, and former UCF men's basketball standout Mike O'Donnell will emcee the tour.
Representatives from other UCF sports programs, the Golden Knights Club, the UCF Alumni Association and UCF Athletics also will be attending the events.
