ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Thanks to a dominating singles performance, the UCF men's tennis team rolled to a 5-2 victory over Davidson Sunday at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights claimed five of six singles victories on a windy day on campus.

UCF improved to 4-6 on the year with the victory. Davidson (3-5) began the day by taking the doubles point, but then ran into a strong UCF singles lineup.

At the No. 4 spot, Mario Samson eased to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Davidson's Calum Gee. Mitch Thams handled Nicky Kunz, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3. Facing Chris Mark at the No. 1 position, Jorge Blasco was a 6-3, 6-3 winner for the Knights. Erik Brunskog defeated Joe Schafer (6-4, 4-6, 6-1) at No. 2 and at No. 6, Joe Delinks got past Connor Evins (7-5, 7-6).

"Our guys stepped up in singles today. Davidson is a feisty team and they play good doubles. We had to show up and compete after losing the doubles point and we did that today," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said. The Knights will return to the courts Wednesday when they host Penn State at 2 p.m. Admission is free at the UCF Tennis Complex.
