ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team will take on North Florida at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a non-conference game at the UNF Softball Complex. This will be just the second non-conference road game of the season for the Knights.
UCF, 22-10 overall and 3-3 in Conference USA, has showcased elite pitching all season, as it leads C-USA in wins, ERA, complete games, opponents' batting average and strikeouts.
UCF's pitching staff has featured a three-pronged attack led by freshman Mackenzie Audas, senior Ali Schmidt and junior Alex Hartshorn. Audas and Schmidt rank first and fifth in the conference with 1.22 and 1.77 ERAs, respectively.
Audas has a team-best 11 wins, and she leads the Knights with 16 complete games, four shutouts, 126 strikeouts and a .174 batting average against. Schmidt has six wins, three saves and a .213 opponents' batting average. Hartshorn has five wins and issued a team-low nine walks on the season.
UCF holds a 6-4 all-time record against UNF, but was defeated in both meetings against the Ospreys in 2011.
North Florida comes into the game with a 19-13 record and a 4-8 mark at home. The Ospreys' offense is led by sophomore catcher Mariah Reynolds, who is hitting .300 with a team-leading three home runs and 21 RBI. The Ospreys' top pitcher is freshman Kaylie Wallace, who is 11-3 with a 1.17 ERA in 20 appearances.
Upcoming home games include a sold-out April 11 contest against in-state rival Florida. Season tickets are $25 and are available online at UCFAthletics.com and Ticketmaster.com or by calling the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at (407) 823-1000.
