ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Before the No. 19 UCF baseball team kicks off Conference USA play this weekend, it will jump on the road for the first time this month to play USF Tuesday at 7 p.m. Action from the USF Baseball Stadium can be seen live on Bright House Sports Network Ch. 1147, and will be streamed on All-Access.
The Knights (16-5) will be going for their first series victory over the Bulls (14-7) since 2005.
Both teams met in Orlando on Feb. 28 with UCF blasting a season-high 16 hits as it romped to a 12-1 victory. Junior D.J. Hicks racked up four RBI, and Darnell Sweeney pieced together a 3-for-4, two RBI performance. Freshman Eric Skoglund notched his first-career victory in 3 2/3 innings of relief.
On the mound Tuesday night for UCF will be senior Ray Hanson who has been excellent in his two previous midweek starts against No. 5 FSU and No. 9 Miami. In the pair of outings, Hanson totaled 10 innings, surrendered only one earned run while striking out eight. He will be opposed by USF's Derrick Stultz who owns a 3-0 record and 1.93 ERA in 23 1/3 innings this season.
The two teams have split the season series the past two years with the Knights getting the better of the Bulls in Tampa by scores of 7-3 in 2010 and 10-4 in 2011.
