ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Fresh off its fourth weekend sweep of 2012, the UCF baseball team climbed in three major rankings Monday. After the Knights (16-5) dropped a one-run game on Wednesday to No. 11 Miami, they responded with their third weekend sweep of March with a trio of wins over Harvard.
UCF finds itself down two spots to No. 21 in the Baseball America rankings, but jumped up two notches in the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll to No. 21. The Knights have appeared in each Baseball America poll since its No. 21 preseason ranking, and join Rice (No. 9/7) as the only two teams in Conference USA to appear in both rankings.
Also on Monday, UCF climbed three spots to No. 19 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll and was bumped up in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper rankings from No. 29 to No. 28.
The highest ranking in program history for UCF came in 2001 at No. 7 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper polls.
UCF will travel to Tampa on Tuesday to take on USF for its first road game of March. The Knights will be going for the season sweep of the Bulls, and the contest will air live on Bright House Sports Network Ch. 1147 at 7 p.m.
