GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Junior Carolin Pinegger and freshman Monifa Sealy combined to shoot just 1-over as they led the No. 36 UCF women's golf team on the second day of the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invite. The Knights shot 18-over on the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course at Florida.
UCF continues to sit in 12th after Saturday's improvement. No. 2 Alabama and No. 23 Florida pace the field at 17-over through two rounds.
After a pair of first-round 6-overs, both Pinegger and Sealy adjusted well to the course on Saturday. Pinegger, who is tied for 16th, carded three birdies to shoot an Even 70 while Sealy sank two birdies of her own with a 1-over 71. The Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago, native is tied for 20th.
The second round was tougher for freshman Katie Mitchell and sophomore Kaitlyn Price as the duo shot 9-over (79). The pair each managed a birdie on the afternoon.
Rookie Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario) improved in round two with an 8-over (78), and managed a birdie on the par-3 eighth hole.
The final round from Gainesville will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Knights' starting five will tee off on holes 10-12.
