ORLANDO, Fla. ( - Playing its third match in as many days, the UCF men's tennis team handled Winthrop, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights claimed the doubles point to open the match and then won four of six singles contests.

Thams defeated Dylan Comerford at No. 3 (6-1, 7-5). Facing Guy Kubi at No. 2, Brunskog recorded a 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 victory.

Thams joined Delinks for an 8-2 win over Ruppin and Kubi at the No. 1 doubles spot. Eugene Dolgovykh and Matthew Gladstone also registered a win at No. 3.

"It was a good win for our team today. We competed hard after playing our third match in three days. We need to gain some confidence going into the next few weeks of the season. Our doubles are really starting to click and our guys are beginning to understand what it takes to finish matches," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said.

Winthrop fell to 7-8 on the year with the loss.

UCF will not return to action until a week from today when the Knights host Nicholls State.
