GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 36 UCF women's golf team wrapped up the first round of the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invite tied for 12th Friday afternoon.
Starting at No. 4 for the Knights, freshman Katie Mitchell (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) led the squad with a 5-over 75. Currently ranked No. 99 by Golfstat, Mitchell stayed near the lead pack after carding just one bogey on the back nine.
Freshman Monifa Sealy (Glencoe, Trinidad and Tobago), junior Carolin Pinegger (Marquartstein, Germany) and sophomore Kaitlyn Price each shot a 6-over 76 through round one. The trio combined for six birdies on the par-70 course.
Rookie Robyn Doig (Seaforth, Ontario) rounded out the Knights' lineup after a first-round 82 (+12).
Round-two action will get underway with Doig teeing off first at 10:30 a.m.
